Depression

Children can experience sadness, hopelessness, and depression, although the signs often look different in children than in adults. A child who seems unusually withdrawn, irritable, negative, or preoccupied with death may be struggling and need extra support.

The good news is that parents can make a powerful difference. By strengthening connection, helping children express their feelings, building resilience and optimism, and seeking professional help when needed, we can support children's emotional well-being and recovery.

The resources below will help you recognize signs of depression, support a struggling child, and understand when additional help may be needed.
